Tokelau
Tokelau /ˈtoʊkəlaʊ/ is a territory of New Zealand in the South Pacific Ocean that consists of three tropical coral atolls (from the northwest, Atafu, Nukunonu and Fakaofo, as well as Swains Island which is governed as part of American Samoa) with a combined land area of 10 km2 (4 sq mi) and a population of approximately 1,400. Its capital rotates yearly between the three atolls. Tokelau lies north of the Samoan Islands, Swains Island being the nearest, east of Tuvalu, south of the Phoenix Islands, southwest of the more distant Line Islands, and northwest of the Cook Islands.
The United Nations General Assembly designates Tokelau a Non-Self-Governing Territory. Until 1976, the official name was Tokelau Islands. It is a New Zealand territory, and is sometimes referred to by its older colonial name, the Union Islands.
Etymology
The name Tokelau is a Polynesian word meaning "North Wind". The islands were named the Union Islands and Union Group by European explorers at an unknown time. Tokelau Islands was adopted as the name in 1946, and was contracted to Tokelau on 9 December 1976.

Tinea imbricata (also known as "Tokelau") is a superficial fungal infection of the skin limited to southwest Polynesia, Melanesia, Southeast Asia, India, and Central America.
It is associated with Trichophyton concentricum.

Tokelau's population is 281. It is the smaller of Nanumanga's two villages.
Linguistic background
For disambiguation purposes, it may be noted that "Tokelau" is also the name of a neighbouring territory administered by New Zealand, with its own language.
Tokelauan-speakers and Tuvaluan-speakers share linguistic intelligibility. Hence also the occurrence of the identical place name.

Getting to Tokelau, the most remote country on earth | Tokelau stories part 1
Getting to Tokelau is not easy, the country doesn't have an airport so you have to jump through a few hoops to get there. In this video Sam and Andrew travel from New Caledonia through Apia, Samoa to the country of Tokelau, one of the smallest, most remote and most special countries on earth. Unless you like 60 hour boat rides and the fast and the furious 6, then this vid is probably the best way to experience what we went through to get to this amazing country. Why do it yourself when we edited it all down into a 7 minute clip? This is the first part of a series of videos showing how to get to Tokelau, the popping and fly fishing there, and what life is like on the island. Tokelau 2019 VLOG!
My siblings finally travelled back to our motherlands (Tokelau/Samoa) and for some, it was the first time returning since our family migrated to Auckland, New Zealand in 1994. We continue to appreciate the blessing from above as memories were created and not dreams. Grateful for the sacrifices and challenges which continue to position and ground us as a kaiga. While we continued to follow diasporic route in Townsville, Australia (2003) we have always known where we come from because the aganuku was taught in our homes. And this is why we have only known to depend on each other as kaiga/family 💙 #Tokelau #Samoa #Nukunonu #Lufilufi 🇹🇰

Tokelau ("north wind", second name - Union Islands), island possession of New Zealand in the central part of Oceania. It is washed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean. It includes 3 small atolls (Fakaofo, Nukunonu, Aiafu) in the form of an arc 480 km to the north of the Samoan archipelago. All atolls have a classic shape - a ring of small coral islets (no more than 200 m wide) around the central lagoon with a thin layer of barren soil. These islets are the above-water tops of the underwater coral reefs. The atolls are low (no higher than 5 m). The surface of the islets is composed of coral debris. The total land area is 12.2 sq. km.

Getting to Tokelau is not easy, the country doesn't have an airport so you have to jump through a few hoops to get there. In this video Sam and Andrew travel from New Caledonia through Apia, Samoa to the country of Tokelau, one of the smallest, most remote and most special countries on earth. Unless you like 60 hour boat rides and the fast and the furious 6, then this vid is probably the best way to experience what we went through to get to this amazing country. Why do it yourself when we edited it all down into a 7 minute clip?
This is the first part of a series of videos showing how to get to Tokelau, the popping and fly fishing there, and what life is like on the island.

My siblings finally travelled back to our motherlands (Tokelau/Samoa) and for some, it was the first time returning since our family migrated to Auckland, New Zealand in 1994. We continue to appreciate the blessing from above as memories were created and not dreams. Grateful for the sacrifices and challenges which continue to position and ground us as a kaiga. While we continued to follow diasporic route in Townsville, Australia (2003) we have always known where we come from because the aganuku was taught in our homes. And this is why we have only known to depend on each other as kaiga/family 💙

Yep, I travelled to what the internet deems the least visited country in the world. The reality is that the statistics behind this are far from perfect. Many of these small countries don't actually count how many people come visit. So it's very hard to really tell which country truly has the least visitors. Tokelau
Tokelau /ˈtoʊkəlaʊ/ is a territory of New Zealand in the South Pacific Ocean that consists of three tropical coral atolls (from the northwest, Atafu, Nukunonu and Fakaofo, as well as Swains Island which is governed as part of American Samoa) with a combined land area of 10 km2 (4 sq mi) and a population of approximately 1,400. Its capital rotates yearly between the three atolls. Tokelau lies north of the Samoan Islands, Swains Island being the nearest, east of Tuvalu, south of the Phoenix Islands, southwest of the more distant Line Islands, and northwest of the Cook Islands.
The United Nations General Assembly designates Tokelau a Non-Self-Governing Territory. Until 1976, the official name was Tokelau Islands. It is a New Zealand territory, and is sometimes referred to by its older colonial name, the Union Islands.
Etymology
The name Tokelau is a Polynesian word meaning "North Wind". The islands were named the Union Islands and Union Group by European explorers at an unknown time. Tokelau Islands was adopted as the name in 1946, and was contracted to Tokelau on 9 December 1976.
